The University of Portland School of Education has over 25 years of experience educating and assisting education professionals in the Edmonton area through its master of education (MEd) in educational leadership program. The MEd in educational leadership provides licensed teachers with an opportunity to engage in advanced preparation for teacher leadership. Students in this program must complete a residency requirement at the University of Portland campus.

The MEd Educational Leadership program in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is offered pursuant to the written approval of the Minister of Advanced Education and Technology, effective September 2010, having undergone a quality assessment process and been found to meet the criteria established by the Minister. Nevertheless, prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (for example, acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies, or other educational institutions). This degree program does not lead to leadership certification currently required for school principals in Alberta.
