School of Education: Master of Education Program (M.Ed.)
This degree is designed for practicing educators to continue building upon professional knowledge and experience. The program is delivered on the University of Portland campus as well as at other approved off-campus sites. All M.Ed. students combine an 18-hour core of professional knowledge and research courses with an 18-hour program specialty area (see options below). Specialty Area Options -- 18 hours
On-campus students, in consultation with an academic advisor, choose a specialty option in educational leadership, reading, special education, English for speakers of other languages, neuroeducation, or initial administrator licensure. Off-campus students are expected to follow a two-year sequence of courses in the specialty option of educational leadership only. Students in the off-campus program (except for Guam) must complete a three-hour residency requirement at the University of Portland campus.
